He combines his background in polymer engineering with advanced education in Industrial and Product Design, bringing together creative design thinking, engineering knowledge and practical manufacturing considerations.
Professional Biography
Prof. Avinash Bhalerao has 20 years of professional experience in Product Design & Development and has worked on 75+ products, with 40+ products successfully reaching the market.
He is a polymer engineer and holds a Master of Design (M.Des.) in Industrial/Product Design from the Industrial Design Centre, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
He started his career as a Product Designer with VIP Luggage in 1999. After a successful tenure of around three years, he went on to work with reputed organizations such as General Motors and Godrej Appliances in different capacities.
He subsequently founded 'iidenrt design', a design studio based in Pune. As the founder and head of the multidisciplinary design firm, he worked with a team of creative professionals from diverse industry backgrounds. The studio focused on developing innovative, reliable and affordable products and services for a wide range of industries.
His professional work has covered creative business ideas, innovative product concepts, product detailing, engineering optimization, product packaging, branding and communication to end users.
He has worked with several reputed brands and organizations including Ashok Leyland, Godrej, Crompton Greaves, Cello, Milton, Vijeta Switchgears and FIE Group.
Being a strong believer in the collaboration of Design and Technology, he believes that creative ideas become stronger when supported by engineering expertise and technical inputs that ensure manufacturing feasibility.
Since 2008, he has maintained an association with design schools, sharing design fundamentals and professional approaches to product design opportunities. He has guided students on graduation projects and has participated as a jury member at various design schools.
From mid-2019 onwards, he moved full-time into academics, contributing his professional design experience and industry perspective to design education.
